Your Body Already Knows

Have you ever walked away from a conversation feeling completely off, and you couldn’t quite explain why? Or said yes to something and immediately felt a heaviness settle in your chest? Or avoided someone without being able to put a finger on the reason?
That’s not anxiety. That’s not overthinking. That’s you — telling yourself something true.
We spend so much energy looking outside ourselves for answers. We ask our friends, we read the articles, we wonder what we should be feeling. But somewhere underneath all the noise, there’s a quieter voice that already knows. Most of us have just never been taught to listen to it.
Here’s something that might shift things for you: every emotion you feel has a root. The irritability that shows up out of nowhere, the exhaustion that sleep doesn’t fix, the low hum of anxiety that follows you through your day — none of it is random. Your body is always responding to something. And when you slow down enough to ask what is this actually about? instead of pushing through it, something starts to change.
You don’t need to be a spiritual person to do this. You don’t need to meditate or have some special gift. You just need to start paying a little attention to yourself — the way you already pay attention to everyone else.
Next time something feels off, instead of dismissing it, try getting curious. Ask yourself: what am I actually feeling right now? Where do I feel it in my body? What might this be about? You don’t need the answer right away. Just the willingness to ask is enough to start.
You’ve been listening to everyone else for a long time. It might be time to start listening to yourself.
